In partnership with the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR), CAHR has launched a new prize to highlight and celebrate the contributions of Canadian HIV/AIDS researchers. Starting in 2017, up to five CAHR -CANFAR Excellence in Research Awards will be bestowed at the CAHR Conference each year to highlight the achievements of mid-career investigators in all pillars of HIV research.
While in the prime of their careers, those awarded this prize will have achieved a track record of excellence and demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of those living with HIV with or at risk.
The 2017 winners of the CAHR -CANFAR Excellence in Research Awards are:
- Basic Sciences: Dr. Lyle McKinnon, University of Manitoba
- Clinical Sciences, Dr. Mona Loutfy, Women’s College Hospital
- Epidemiology- Public Health, Dr. Kate Shannon, BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS
- Social Sciences, Dr. Eric Mykhalovskiy, York University
